I seldom go out for #coffee anymore (b/c it's quite expensive here), but I was out & had time to kill this afternoon. The coffee is from #Ethiopia, & it was brewed on a #Kono #siphon (aka #vacpot). The #cafe was Sweet Cafe in #Taichung, #Taiwan. (It's the same place I buy my green beans for roasting.)

@SlowRain that looks SOO good!!! I have a siphon at home, but I haven't really mastered brewing on it. I need to find a coffee shop where I can taste what a real cup of brewed siphon coffee tastes like.
@jsilvax What brand is your siphon, & how many "cups" does it supposedly make? (I don't have one, so I can't help.) You could also find a group of coffee enthusiasts in your area and join them at their next meet-up.
@SlowRain I think mine makes 2 cups. I'll have to check when I get back from my vacation in Italy.

@jsilvax I imagine the #espresso in #Italy would be roasted a bit darker, so may not be as bright/sour/acidic/fruity as in the US. I don't know about their brewed #coffee, though. I imagine it's similar. Do they really have a cafe culture where customers just pop in, say "Hi", drink an espresso, and then go?

Enjoy your vacation.

@SlowRain Most Italians I've seen just stand and drink their espresso and leave. Though really, I am talking more about the flavor profiles and having variety of beans, prideful in their sourcing etc. Like I said though, I might just not know where to go for quality Italian coffee. I've had the most flavorful lattes in LA. where I can taste the hints of chocolate or cherries. In addition to amazing beans, the baristas need to know how to make it the right way. There's an art to it

@jsilvax FWIW, most Italians think what's known as 3rd-Wave coffee in the US, UK, etc. is not good coffee. You'll just have to enjoy coffee their way while you're there.

What part(s) of Italy are you traveling in?

@SlowRain haha yeah. Rome, Florence, Venice. Florence has been my favorite so far.

@jsilvax I've never been to Italy, but it would be nice to go someday.

If you're still in Florence and in need of a cafe, you could try ditta Atigianale.

@SlowRain ah I wish I would have seen this when I was over there! I just got back to LA. Today is my first day back to my normal life haha

@jsilvax That's OK. Next trip.

Whenever we go somewhere, the first thing I do is research #coffee shops--even before looking into hotels. Priorities. Luckily, my wife is now used to this.
