Well this is new. I can now consistently crash my entire Chromebook by scrolling down on Mastodon's web version, loading more toots into the timeline until, boom, the entire Chromebook reboots.

Not just crashes the tab, the entire Chromebook.

Might not have anything to do with Mastodon.

Mastodon once you've scrolled down far enough is easily the most memory-intensive web app running on my Chromebook so maybe its just excessive memory use in general that is triggering some other bug in ChromeOS.

@baldur Have you tried Tooty? https://tooty.mastodon.cloud/ I wonder if it would fare any better on a Chromebook.
@chris No, I haven't. Worth a try. 🙂
@chris I still ran into an error once I went back enough in the timeline but the Chromebook didn't crash so that's progress. :-) Also like how Tooty looks. Not bad.
@baldur Not crashing is better! I agree, I think I'm liking Tooty more than the official. Next up: try "toot" on your Chromebook": https://github.com/ihabunek/toot. Might need to install Linux to run it, but I bet it won't crash 😁
