Bill Callahan is a singer/songwriter. He writes beautiful music, and sings in a subtle, simple baritone.

His lyrics are remarkable. His songs are deceptively simple. Everything about him is wonderful, including his weird, barely comprehensible epistolary novel "Letters to Emma Bowlcut"

Here is his 2009 album Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle, which takes it's title from that novel.

I love this album, my favorite tracks are Eid Maw Clack Shaw, My Friend, and Faith\Void.

Faith\Void is long, and it's a hard listen, sometimes, but other times I can leave it on repeat for a while.

Some other Standout tracks from Bill Callahan/Smog:

I Was a Stranger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkw0StOLdI0

America: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItGY5GB1YAQ

But really, aside from his first couple of albums where he experimented with weird lo-fi noise stuff, all of this material is stellar.

Oh! And of course, here is Smog in 1993 with "I Am Star Wars!"

"I Am Star Wars Today!"

It's a weird, dissonant, cut and paste thing, lofi thing. But it's Star Wars day, so it's appropriate.

@ajr Best Smog song... go! I'm going to vote for "River Guard" or maybe "Cold Blooded Old Times".

@snarkout ooh. Cold blooded old times is a good one!

Can I include Bill Callahan songs, or just smog?

@ajr I don't see why you can't include both.

@snarkout

Best song, probably I was a Stranger.

Honestly, anything on Red Apple Falls.

Honestly, anything on any of his albums.

All of Bill Callahan's songs are his best songs.
