@randulo Sooo... which of the 4 or 7 or 10 "randulo" accounts should I consider to be your *main* account? :-)
@danyork @randulo This form of use (multiple accts to segregate interests) is gaining traction. But I feel this will lead to a fediverse full of islands w no need for federation. This need could be better served by toots having a category and we follow tooter/category.
@Aswath @danyork
I understand the downside, it's a small experiment. I will eventually drop one of the others.
@randulo @danyork I was not commenting on your experiment. By definition, your desire (as do others) points out an unmet need. I was exploring the issue from an academic point of view.
@Aswath I have been doing this on Twitter for ten years. Like Collections on Google+, it is a courtesy to others who may want to see my Tweets on tech but not music. Certain people on Twitter that would otherwise be worth following for VoIP for example have taken to reshare political memes half the time.
@Aswath @randulo Interesting thought. But the islands still could be connected by bridges (federation). And even if you enjoyed primarily being on your own island and conversing with the locals, you could still follow people on other islands and converse with them when you desired to do so.
@danyork @Aswath my idea was a kind of "auto curation" that would happen passively by people following other people. Someone compared this to Twitter lists, but it's not quite the same. And we do need the federation for the idea to work. The fact that Dan is too busy kind of proves the point. He's followed where he is.
