How would my back feel if I had a mattress, and could sit up in the bed to read.. (my "bed" doesn't have any frame so there is nothing to lean on)

@Gargron I'd recommend like facebook "free" for picking it up.

But, re: beds. I recommend investing in a proper bed. The good mattresses from Ikea have 25 years warranty
I spent like £500 on mine, 6 years ago. That was a mid-tier bed.
