Because the results were sometimes catastrophic, gnomish technology was never allowed into the hands of outsiders. #ANQ #Thurds

(#Thurds is a hashtag used on Twitter for writers to share their work according to the Thursday theme word. This week's word is "Because.")

(#ANQ is my hashtag that I use when referencing my first epic fantasy novel, A Noble's Quest, available through the link above)

@Ryan_Toxopeus This sentence would make an awesome incipit for a novel. Then you'll add the mandatory second sentence ("Then, the murders began.") and the plot will write itself alone.
I might try it, someday :)
@PierreM LOL There's certainly an *attempted* murder with gnomish technology early in the book. ;) And near the end the reader gets to see it in all its awful glory.
@Ryan_Toxopeus I found a meme a few weeks (propably on Google +) where people would use the incipit of a novel and add this sentence (then the murder began). It was both interesting and hilarious.
And in your case, the first sentence seems to be about accident, and the mention of a murder is an interesting paradox, I think.
