@GEvans have you seen that Amazon recently opened up a subscription model for self-publishers? This would allow you to offer paid subscriptions via Amazon to people who read on Kindle or via the Kindle app. It might be something worth looking into if you're interested. Here's the link:

@jlward Cool! Thanks! Sorry for the delay in replying. I strongly dislike how notifications and post threads work on Mastodon. If I don't actively look for them, then it's easy to miss them altogether....
@jlward @GEvans What are the rates like, and is there a significant benefit to this model over patreon?
@ajr @GEvans it's brand new and right now, you have to apply. I think eventually they'll open it up entirely but last I checked you had to apply. I'm not sure what the rates are, but I would suspect they'd be similar to Kindle publishing rates. The advantage would be that you'd have immediate access (once accepted) to Amazon's massive customer base. And, you're product would be for sale instead of feeling like you have to beg for support...if Patreon makes you feel that

Gotcha. Sounds like a neat program, I'm just nervous about letting Amazon control another aspect of my revenue.
