So we have Mastodon to replace Twitter, should we finally all use Diaspora* in lieu of Facebook?
@mstfacmly I like facebook. And I don't think that mastadon is going to replace Twitter ... yet.

@BrandonHill @mstfacmly I think you missed his point. lol

The point of using either Mastodon or Diaspora is to eliminate control of monolithic organizations. You can like FB all you want but it doesn't change the fact that they control what you see.

@drkmttr @mstfacmly You have to remember that all social networks began as upstart companies, and evolved into "monolithic organizations." Sadly, this may be the fate of mastadon as well. The only difference is that we can only hope that they don't start prying too deeply into what we post, and that they leave the control of what we see from others up to us. That's what the "block" function is for.
@BrandonHill @mstfacmly You may want to read more into how Mastodon works. It's not really possible for "them" to pry because the code is open-source and each server is independently run. That's the beauty of it.
@drkmttr @mstfacmly If there is one thing my years of surfing the web to the point of insanity and near hikkikimori levels of antisocial have taught me is that there's always a way to play the system. So to your statement, I merely say "wait."
@BrandonHill @drkmttr So, uh, can you exclude me from this exchange? That'd be super nice.

@mstfacmly @BrandonHill No, you're going to read it and like it. 😂

I'm kidding. Sorry about that.
