While Reagan (rightly) gets a lot of blame for neoliberalism's rise, people often gloss over the fact that Bill Clinton handed the economic reins of the country over to literal Randian Objectivist Alan Greenspan. While he believed in making compromises, Greenspan always held those views and they had major influence on his policy.

This is extremely important in understanding resentment of the Clinton family and democrats as a whole as elitists.

@HepCatPJs I'm not a big fan of 'neoliberalism' as a concept, primarily because it's really just liberalism serving the needs of capital. Yes, there are people who work in think tanks that are 'neoliberal' but it's ultimately just a manifestation of capitalism.
@Misbiopy I feel like ultimately it's more useful as a descriptivist term for a new iteration of what already existed rather than something that's materially different from vanilla liberalism, yeah
