@kaellie @Carrie It was explained to me when I first joined Mastodon that you wanted to belong to more than one instance so that if the one you mainly use ceases to exist you would belong to others. If you don't import the people you follow you will lose all those people and essentially have to start from scratch re following all the people lost from other instance. Problem is, is that when you import to a new instance you show up as new follower to all the people you were follow in the other.
