Me: Coders are not the most important people in tech. Y'all need to look outside your bubbles and think about the people using and engaging with your tech, many of whom would not be interested in code for whatever reason. Their perspectives are still important & we need to make things accessible for them, not reinforce systemic barriers.

Coders: OMG YOU'RE JUST HOSTILE AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN STOP BEING SO LAZY WTF IS "SYSTEMIC"

🙄🙄🙄

@creatrixtiara What are you trying to tell? I don't thing anyone is saying that coders are more important than other contributors.
@hatsuki you missed out on an entirely frustrating conversation that is now being deemed "trolling" just because some people can't figure out the difference between me and the wider world -_-;;
@creatrixtiara I read your interactions with some admins and contributors, but I cannot see the point you are trying to communicate. In what ways would you like to see the Mastodon community improve itself?
@hatsuki All of this sparked from some people asking why "minority groups" aren't joining Mastodon, to which I replied that it's still rather obtuse for those not embedded in FOSS/tech land. I was trying to argue for those involved in building Mastodon to look outside their own bubble and think about how the people they are trying to attract would want to engage with Mastodon - many of these people wouldn't want to code and that should be fine!
@creatrixtiara Well I would certain like to see everyone joining the network! In its current shape, I think Mastodon is already doing quite well for end users without technical knowledge, just look at the Japanese artists joining since yesterday.
@hatsuki I'd be interested in learning how those artists heard about and got into Mastodon! I don't know Japanese though so I couldn't ask directly
@creatrixtiara Most of them are on pawoo.net, operated by Pixiv, a company hosting digital arts (largest in Japan, like a digital portfolio plaftorm) I would warn that many of the contents posted are pornographic in nature, as many of those users are in search of a platform after being exiled from Twitter
@hatsuki so Pixiv set up their own Mastodon instance? That seems smart - sites with preexisting communities setting up their own Instances since they already have their tech know-how & resources (from setting up the original site)
@creatrixtiara Yeah, that was super cool, and the Pixiv people are also discussing with the devs on legal issues (https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/1847) amazing
