@crime Yesterday (or the day before?) there was a MAJOR breakthrough of mastodon in Japan.

Unfortunately, much like with the Frenchies last week: most users all flocked to the same instance.

Which closed their registrations today to push people into other spaces, same as before.

It's worked, but that means all other open instances got a bunch of Japanese-speaking folks in their numbers... and whoever can speak Japanese has been flexing their muscles to welcome them and make new friends. :p
