Yes it is. It uses good methods of encryption. The basis of ProtonMail is to minimize the acquisition of knowledge about the user. For the highest level of security, two passwords are used.

ProtonMail is capable of encrypting all mails, but also has an auto-destruct mechanism.

Its a good option.

@lixxus Well, honestly protonmail was attacked once in past by hackers. It was DDoS attack, but the informations on the servers remained safe. I think protonmail is generally best option at this moment. But free registration has some limits (there's also paid version).
