@machocam I've started on mastodon.social which was nice because since it's the most active one, it's the instance that federates with most others, so it has a very active ferderated timeline and profiles are often complete

But I quit because mastodon.social blocks some other instances because it disagrees with their ideology. So I picked a small private instance made by someone I know instead, so I'm sure I'll be safe, however it doesn't federate as much as mastodon.social at all

@Tina I see. I'm on a small one too :). Growing though. Good idea if you know the owner of the server, would suck if the server shuts down. I wonder what would happen to the accounts in that case.

@machocam your account cease from existing on tusk.social but all the other instances that loaded your profile and toots will conserve it
it may be an outdated profile and older toots, but it would be the latest the instance saw on tusk.social by federating (for example, if I follow you, masto.quad.moe will have the latest toots I saw from you in my timeline and will keep it)
I guess
