Technical problem: Mastodon seems to be handling some quotation marks in a less than optimal way (see screenshot). Has anyone looked into this? https://mastodon.cloud/media/8bMK5U3ijCpG_jcp_B0
@stefanieschulte What is the specific thing you're missing? that "..." isn't automatically converted to left and right quotation marks “...”? or is the problem the new line after "?
@orionwl The new line - I would like the quotation mark to move to the next line also, together with the word "Contrary".
@stefanieschulte Yes the line break is weird - I don't understand why it would line out words like that. Seems not to be dependent on the width of the text area either. Not sure if it looked the same while submitting but sometimes formatting here can be helped a bit by typing enter in the right place.

@orionwl Actually, I now believe that I accidentally copied and pasted the line break myself. If I paste the original headline from the post (http://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/adam-smith-and-inequality/) into Twitter, a line break appears, too, but only when I already typed a quotation mark or any other character.

When I paste the quote into an ordinary text editor instead, there is no line break.

Funnily enough, that has happened to me on Mastodon at least twice.

@stefanieschulte Interesting. Sounds like you narrowed it down to an oddity with the copy/paste implementation of the input form they use here, possibly combined with the browser. Can't seem to get the same effect here.
