What does the green check mean next to some users names? A verification of some type?

@bashfulrobot No, it's completely controlled by the user. You can enter a green check emoji in your username. It mimics Twitters verified status and some people just like to do it.

@bashfulrobot it's mostly a joke but some people with multiple masto accounts use it to indicate which one is their main

@bashfulrobot mine is because I went through the mastodon verification process. Mine is not an emoji. You can only be verified if you are verifiable under the rules of the instance that you signed up with. I had to go through so much. So much... not an emoji...
