@mariadocarmo you can follow people from any instance and see all toots from connected instances in your federated timeline. The local timeline will show toots from your instance only. That's why we created https://toot.BERLIN, so we can have a local timeline about stuff that's happening in our city and still communicate with everyone else.

@mariadocarmo By default, you will see toots posted by hackelab.fr users, and also toots posted by users in hackelab's federated network, in the "Federated Timeline" (It's the timeline with the little world icon). Apart from that, you will also see Mastodon and GNUSocial users you have followed, wherever they are. #mastodon #helpline
