Okay gang! Writing about Mastodon. Why are you on this? What's better about it than Twitter?
Still being able to read a federated timeline and respond to total strangers? @davetaylor
@davetaylor not curated for a start. Also better character limits
@davetaylor Be sure to mention how William Shatner couldn't find you on here. Also mention how you think it's just another Twitter clone and gloss over what makes it different.
@foxiehkins wait, so is Shatner NOT finding me a good thing, or a bad thing? :-)
@davetaylor
1) My boss doesn't follow me on it
2) My ex doesn't follow me on it
3) My mother doesn't follow me on it
4) People seem decent and easy to mute otherwise
5) It's not asking me for my phone number every five minutes
6) It's not serve me ads about stuff I put on my Amazon wishlist nine months ago and have already bought since then
@davetaylor it feels like Twitter when it first started, to me anyway. Having chronological posts, and not having every post dominated at the top by verified people are my 2 fav fearures
@davetaylor I have a tendency to collect boutique social networks ... often the energy level is higher (at least in the early days), and you can bum around on public feeds and happen on conversations in a way that's not possible on a network with millions.
