I may not be ideally suited for work in large organisations. So much of what they do I find grating and unproductive.

I also suspect that after a certain size, they are captured by upper middle management, and run on-behalf and to the benefit of that group. Rent seeking at the cost of customers, shareholders, and people that do actual work.

@HalvarFlake Buddy of mine won't work for any company that has more than 300 people. He said he's found that <=300 seems to be the sweet spot before middle management bloat and empire building become dominant. I'm at a 700 person company and things are good, but I feel that in a year or two this will be a very different place to work.

@Noid So Google at 25k people (with security at a few hundred) was still relatively clean when it came to this, impressively.

At 75k people or so, it is clearly no longer the case.

@HalvarFlake That is impressive. MSFT broke 100k when I was there. The results were exactly what you'd expect.
