@mvictoras regarding the "what you're working on question," I'm working on whatever I'm working on. The life of the journalist! Today it's a batch of reviews of the Amazon show The Collection. Tomorrow I'm going out with a citizen scientist to listen to frogs.
@HopperUsher @mvictoras i'm doodling in applied futurology towards some sort of planetarian disruption. Also developing software for money.
@abekonge @mvictoras I don't know what that means. Google tells me it's anime. :) But when I first read that, I was like, "Oh, he's gonna terraform Pluto or something?" So I think I need more info!
@HopperUsher sorry I meant 'planetary', I consider myself a 'planetarian', (which is a neologism meaning something like relating oneself to the planet as a whole, not to a specific nation state etc)) ;)
@HopperUsher @mvictoras, sorry forgot to @ you.
@mvictoras @HopperUsher so l'm exploring distributed systems as a means to cross/break down borders, empower communication/civil rights, governance / community. Mastodon for example ...
@abekonge @mvictoras Ah. So you're terrifying to tyrants everywhere.
@HopperUsher @mvictoras no, just some things I'm thinking about. That I thought I would share, since you asked.
@abekonge @mvictoras Thanks for sharing. Let me know if you come up with a brilliant plan I should pitch to my editor. :)
@abekonge So by disruption do you mean political -- like ending nation states altogether -- or like some sort of climate bomb you drop in the atmosphere to fix global warming?
@HopperUsher at least asking questions like, can we imagine other systems than the nation state, which can be more inclusive, righteous, harmonious (climate wise).
@HopperUsher That's awesome! Where do you listen to frogs?
@mvictoras wetland areas around our region (mid-Michigan). It's a frog count survey they do every year. It's unlikely to be revolutionary journalism--since the frog counts have been covered in the past--but I'm pretty excited to try my hand at telling the story in the best way I can.
@HopperUsher Sounds awesome! I have done some research on ants in the past, and even though it sounds boring, collecting the data and being out in the field is so much fun!
