i went to a gun range for the first time today and was???? very good at shooting???? i rented a 9mm pistol from the range and then also shot two rifles that my friend brought. i liked the pistol more and want to go back. this is weird because i've always hated guns and never had any nuanced opinions, just "ban them." i have a lot to think about now.
@haley gun as recreation good, managed by the gun ranges, is an OK idea. People can buy/rent guys at the gun ranges and play with them at the range. However don't allow people to take them away from gun ranges except with government permission, and probably only because they want to transfer to another gun range.
@haley at falconry this weekend we talked a lot about hunting (cuz that's what falconry's all about in the end) and i always hated hunting but this form of it was really awesome/beautiful and now i'm also conflicted. i guess i just want people to be responsible, whether your killing machine is a gun or a hawk
@unnegative that looked so rad also I really wanna hear about your experience!!!
@haley wanna get lunch this week?
@unnegative yes please! free tomorrow and Wednesday
@haley "Ban them" is totally consistent with "allow controlled usage in specialized places, for fun". We have racetracks that allow non-street-legal cars, for example.
@tabatkins there's still the matter of the second amendment though so

@haley Some terribly, *terribly* mis-interpreted bullshit. Ain't no well-regulated militias around when you're buying a pistol "for home defense".

With luck we'll someday have a SCOTUS that interprets it as intended, and with the nuance of today's world vs three centuries ago's world.

@tabatkins i don't have the time or energy to discuss this on social media rn otherwise I would have been more specific
@haley have you looked at redneck revolt?
