DatTux OLD (CHANGED INSTANCE)So... Question: What is the difference between GNU Social and Mastodon? From my understanding Mastodon is based off of GNU Social and they can both intercommunicate with each other.
How did mastodon come to exist with GNU Social in the picture?

@frankramblings Ohhh sweet! I dont know what it is, considering theyre based on the same code, Mastodon feels like a better experience over all for me.
I wonder what pushed Mastodon into existence and why its gained traction? I mean, its awesome but Im just curious at what set it apart.
@DatTux that's a good question. I've been wondering that myself. Maybe it came across a tech reporter's desk on a slow news day? Or the right celebrity discovered it at the right time?
@frankramblings Yeah maybe, I think its nice design and 500 character limit certainly helps. Will have to look into it!
