That's a loaded question. :-)

I need a new laptop, and I was waiting for Apple's announcements for the MBPs. Way too expensive, so now I'm looking at Windows laptops and waiting on the Chromebook Pro.

Apple made the Pro announcement because of people jumping ship, like me. Announcing a product for 2018 to replace a product from 2013 strikes me as Apple doesn't have a plan. What have the Mac Pro people been doing for 4 years?

@mr_rcollins @derrallg @mguhlin @nickcardet I think for the past four years, the creative team that worked on the MacBook Pro has been working on other projects for Apple. I agree at this point it sounds like they do not have a plan. There is still plenty of time to come up with one, but as you demonstrate in the meantime Apple may lose some of their user base. Even though people say they love the Surface Pro, I am not convinced the software support is there yet.

@wfryer @nickcardet @mguhlin @mr_rcollins Since I've been able to do all my photo processing and video processing on a laptop without too much wait time for awhile I've stopped thinking about desktop machines. Actually, the last Apple desktop I had was the 7500 with the swappable daughter board. The CIO in my district is having me compare the Surface with other Apple devices we use.

@derrallg @mguhlin @nickcardet @wfryer It's hard to find a laptop to support my monitor setup at work, a 27" 2560x1440 display and two 20" 4:3 monitors on each side. :-)

Since my district has sold our souls to Google, I don't see a need for much more than a Chromebook for most. That's why I'm waiting for the Samsung Chromebook Pro. Plus, it has a 3:2 screen like the Surface!! (I really want a 4:3, but no one makes one.)

@derrallg @mr_rcollins @mguhlin @nickcardet our headmaster and communications director both have surfacebooks, and we finally have one back up that I have played with a little bit. I've heard several former Mac Fanboys just rave about the surface pro, but I have really not played with a lot. I have never been a Microsoft Windows fan. Like Ryan I am eager to see what the newest version of pro line Chromebooks will be capable of...
