#KazuoIshiguro wins the #NobelPrize in #Literature. This is the first time that I've read an author before he won the award. #TheRemainsOfTheDay is tied for my favorite novel (the other one is #JohnLeCarre's #aPerfectSpy). #NeverLetMeGo is pretty good, too, but kind of made me feel like I'd been kicked in the gut. #WhenWeWereOrphans was forgettable, though. I'll have to try #TheBuriedGiant.

Kazuo Ishiguro wins Nobel Literature Prize

The British writer is known for novels including The Remains of the Day and Never Let Me Go.

Just a heads up. There is an error in that BBC article I linked to regarding #KazuoIshiguro. One of the screenplays he wrote was called The White Countess, not The White Goddess. It was a pretty decent movie, if memory serves.

@SlowRain I've only read #NeverLetMeGo - loved it. The movie was not bad either. Gotta check out some of his other works.

@cybette Yes. Even though I didn't enjoy that novel, it was brilliant, and I remember agreeing with a lot of what he was saying. I especially liked the discussion of institutionalization. I also wonder now if he was predicting Millennials.

I highly recommend Remains of the Day. It's a very gentle novel, but a rare gem in that I think there's something amazing on almost every page.

@SlowRain sounds enticing, thanks for the recommendation!
