Don't really understand folks from an instance that's "anti-censorship" trolling & whining about an instance that's "pro-moderation". You've already got your safe "free speech" space and the other one isn't taking it away.

It's like someone says "I don't like popcorn" and your response is to rush over to shove a gavage tube down their throat so you can force-feed popcorn until they like it, desperately screaming "ALL MUST CONSUME POPCORN" the whole time.

It's just kind of rude, you know?

@lmorchard 100%. I actually like the pro-"free speech" instances conceptually; as long as they're not hurting anyone they're cool with me.
@nolan Yeah, I don't care. Have your free speech zone. But seems like a some vocal segment of those folks are threatened by other spaces that are different and it's just sad & annoying.
@lmorchard I think that some of it stems from the fact that the 'pro moderation' ones can (and have) banned a whole instance and that instance can not interact with anyone here, even if two people were prev connected etc. Also, my issue would be with admins from instances like octodon.social calling people from those instances 'pieces of shit' in their about page and just in general being a douche. The 'Silence' option is available too but admins seem to default to a ban.
@lmorchard Individualists gotta impose their individual freedoms
@lmorchard Freedom of speech meets freedom of association!
@lmorchard zero-sum-game programming is tough to free yourself from, and once you've done it, it seems so strange when you see others stuck in it.
@lmorchard So confused by the ALL MUST CONSUME POPCORN people. One of the best things I learned about adulting is that it's perfectly ok to shrug, say "well, that's not for me", and go on my way. Plus it seems like so much work trying to force things on other people.
