So I figure. We have been dreaming about a decentralized, free-culture, privacy - centric social network for so long. The web is littered with near misses. This one looks like it has true potential. What will make it work? More ordinary people doing more ordinary things with it? To this end, I'm going to do my bit starting with sharing my #music and #ukulele links. #UkuleleMastodons Assemble!

@ductapeguy My understanding is the Mastodon actually kinda sucks for privacy, but otherwise I agree.

I've wanted this for a while and the recent media attention is helping build enough critical mass for it to be maybe worth using for "normal" people, not just hardcore geeks.

@ductapeguy I think the success of the micropayments economy powered by sites like Patreon is key for the success of Mastodon. That's something that is in place and proven, so I think viability looks good! I wrote a post about good reasons to join Mastodon earlier this week: http://www.speedofcreativity.org/2017/04/05/5-reasons-you-should-join-me-on-mastodon/
