Nevermind, just figured it out. Notifcations tab has a little settings thing just for that tab.

@lindseyb notifications column has a settings button, it lets you turn sound off for individual notification types

@lindseyb On the website: all I have found is to mute the tab, if I want to still have popup notifications. Othwerise I just tell my browser to disallow notifications completely. :/

@lindseyb click the little bars(?) icon in the header (right hand side) for the Notifications column and you'll see an option to disable sounds.
