why don't we have wikipedia on ipfs or bittorrent or something. harder to shut down if everyone has a copy

@KitRedgrave
Nothing's stopping you from hosting a copy of wikipedia on IPFS. In fact, if you've got the space and the bandwidth, I recommend it.

Their dumps are on bittorrent but they're compressed which prevents you from pulling whole articles out of the DHT one at a time.

@drwho @kitredgrave @xj9 What are some differences between #xowa and #kiwix ?
@clacke @KitRedgrave @xj9 Xowa can work with Mediawikis in general, while Kiwix is pretty Wikipedia-centric. Also, Xowa can run as a portable app.
@drwho @KitRedgrave I wonder if any of these contain old enough data that I can re-create the glory of the Jerkcity article
@USBloveDog @KitRedgrave Unknown. I don't prowl around IPFS much. Yet.

@KitRedgrave I think it would be nice to federate Wikipedia. And to build a federated youtube, but that's another subject.
