I try to CW the fuck out of everything. I'm open to learning new reasons to CW. But I can't be entirely apolitical anywhere, online or irl. What's happening in the world is affecting me directly, people I love directly, and all my fellow earthlings.
CWs are a fair compromise everyone should adopt. If you're in a semi public place where strangers can hear you, you're probably not gonna loudly announce some horror of horrors you just heard about, shouting gory details in their faces. You'll probably make a quiet segue to only involve to those who seem interested, and a CW isn't much different.
"Horror of horrors" is a worst case scenario. Someone might get as upset by diet talk as they do about stories of torture. No one really knows what kind of violence another person has experienced or how it affected them. But if you're already kind and thoughtful enough to CW gore, why not got ahead and err on the side of caution and use CW's generously? What's so inconvenient about kindness?

@ghost it is my perception that the calls for CW's are coming mainly from people who understand this and in fact are in the exact same boat.

An expectation of complete apoliticalness would make no sense, and luckily I don't think is widespread at all =

@ghost =) *
@ghost hmmm seems the client I'm using is dropping CW's in replies, not great

@optimajohnny I've seen at least 3 people (or the same 1 on 3 instances idk lol) say they liked the way things were before because there was no news or politics, which they get literally everywhere else. (A fair observation really.)

Weird about the CW not carrying over! What are you using to post?
