It looks like there may be a way to do it by using an atom feed in the middle.

It looks like it's possible to go from Mastodon -> IFTTT -> Twitter using your atom feed (https://mastodon.social/@MarinaOL.atom)
Going from Twitter -> Mastodon would need IFTTT to hook up mastodon.social as a Service.

@MarinaOL To be clear, you'll want to select "New Applet" > search for "Feed" > select "New feed item" > and paste the url there.
