holy shit I'm having an anxiety attack over the tomahawk strikes in Syria. we're so fucked, y'all. I'm fuckin S T R E S S I N
@autonomia666 are you worried about your immediate safety? or just the general escalation of things in the long term?
@taknamay mostly the general escalation of things. I'm not very excited to potentially dodge the draft if it gets to that point and I'm worried about what this means for the general political atmosphere of things at home (i.e. more islamophobia/racism, further empowerment of the far right)
@autonomia666 yeah I get what you mean. A week ago this isn't what I expected in Syria at all...
@taknamay yeah, I mean, I figured that war was going to happen relatively soon, but I thought there would be more warning. Like, this happened so suddenly and without really any heads up. I went from just chillin and reading to catching probably some of the worst news I've received in the past couple of months
@autonomia666 Trump's public position has been very "ISIS first" so I thought Assad would be the last thing to deal with
@taknamay right, right, I feel that. What I'm thinking is that he's exploiting the chemical attack from the other day to start a war so that he can rally support for his wildly unpopular administration. I'm not saying the chemical attack was a false flag and quite frankly, now it doesn't really matter whether or not it was bc regardless of the reality of that, we're at war now and if Trump really is trying to rally support for his admin, he's going to get it
@taknamay it's largely the same tactic that Bush used when starting the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan
@taknamay @autonomia666 I think it's even easier than that. He gets very clear evidence it was the Assad regime that used gas, it's easily sellable andt enables him to also take a stand against all the Russia election conspiracy stories.
@autonomia666 oh shit! we're fucked. stupid fucking war mongers.
