How does one go about moving to another instance? Not that I want to, but would you export everything from one, create the same username on another and import? Do you close out the account on the old instance? How does "migration" work exactly?

@carly_io @wishx you don't need to delete your old instance, but yes, you export/import who you follow. the same username can be created on multiple instances

@wishx there is no "migration" per se. At the moment all you can do is export/import your followings. People who follow you will have to follow you on the new instance.

@wishx The best you can do atm is to export the list of people you follow and block and import it back on your new account.

There's no mechanism to either close your account or automatically transfer your followers yet. You'll have to warn them by hand, put [MOVED] in your name, add a link in your bio, etc. See what I did at @lertsenem .
