You know, Mastodon would be an interesting place to do RPing. You could, like, set up an instance for RPing on and every account on there has to be a character or whatever. You could just look to the Local Timeline to do RP stuff.
@deathpigeon Seems like a lot of work when something like Discord App already allows you to do that (at least for text and voice) for free .?
@Faintdreams Discord would be better for small scale stuff, but, if you want more than, like, 20 people, or something, doing an instance here would make more sense.
@deathpigeon I've only just discovered Discord for gaming (have done face to face tabletop for years), that is a fair point. Also a 20+ person RPG would be v unwieldy!
@Faintdreams I was thinking of mass rping more than, like, tapletop rping.
@deathpigeon So more of a MUD or MMORPG ?
@deathpigeon That is an intriguing idea. I'd hate to moderate / GM it though.
@Faintdreams No gods. No masters. No GMs.

@deathpigeon I know this is my own failing, but I have no idea how that would work as a game system.

Could you point me at any working illustrations of the idea?

I'm intrigued. Surely somebody/thing has to be final arbiter of how game world works?

@Faintdreams Honestly, I think you may be thinking about this much more formally than me. I was thinking more like, say, rp blogs on Tumblr than, like, tabletop rps.
@deathpigeon I am very new to networked gaming via sites like Tumblr and I don't know really anything about RP other than I don't (generally) read/interact with it, so you are probably right and I'm just overthinking the entire thing.
@Faintdreams Think of it less like tabletop games and more like playing pretend with friends, but with a whole lot more effort put into it.
