What's the consensus on search being restricted to usernames and hashtags? Is this something that's necessary to reduce harassment? Without a broader text search finding people with common interests is difficult and tedious
@red I feel like federation would be a better solution to finding common interests. Just follow the public timeline on a server for a specific topic. I don't want to deal with a mess of accounts for each topic though, so they need a solution there.
@Farktonix there's a lot to like about topic specific servers, Though it feels like a conceptual hard sell for non-techies
@red Yeah, it's a hard sell for anyone. Let's move this thread to mastodon.meta.
@red I agree that it should be much clearer which instance a user comes from. It'd be nice if it were easier to reply or boost messages from profiles too. Like if I go to a profile page, I can't click the toots, I have to find the user in my own home page then find the tweet in there, then I can respond or boost or whatever. I don't mind that you can't edit, per se, but it'd be nice to be able to un-boost. It's -almost there- and I'm willing to wait around, but non-techs?
