Ian@PorFavorDama yeah anyone can create an instance if they want. Instances federate with each other once people start following other users across instances.
This project is entirely open source on GitHub and it's relatively easy to deploy using docker.
@ian Oh thank you! So how to create one? Where do I get all this information about it? This is exciting. If it is like your instance can be about anything special for example "technology and so on" because I've seen one called "anticapitalist.party" or something like this, lol.
@PorFavorDama instances.mastodon.xyz has a good list. Also, there is a list of instances on the GitHub repo.
To create one, you will have to clone the repo and host it on a server you own.
@PorFavorDama some have specific themes, but others, like this one, are more general.
