One things that I really enjoy about [Discourse][1], and to a certain extent writing on Reddit and stackoverflow (or Github), is the use of that format.

It's easier to understand for non-technical users vs than using <i>html syntax</i> and even my mom got up to speed in using it b/c its simlar to older [VBullletin Format][2].

@ultimape The only downside, in my opinion, is that it can really screw with character limits, and kind of breaks the overall format of microblogging. I've seen networks that go all-in on the formatting train, and the stream generally looks like ass.
