Dawn of the Final Day

Let's all thank the @hitbsecconf company account for making me feel like awooong my class was a bad idea.

#antisec

@PrincessOfCats You know what they say about haters, though...

I really enjoyed the tips & challenges you posted here so far. I'm a decent coder and reverser, but suck at exploits, so now there's a few more cloned repos and PDFs on this box to tackle :)

@redacted they're not haters. I think it was a bad idea because now infosec flooded over here and brought their bullshit capitalism with them.

I don't want to contribute to that at all.

@PrincessOfCats @redacted there are many reasons I generally don't bother with cons (exceptions include Nuit du Hack and CCC)

@Unprovable @PrincessOfCats Ah, that's what you mean. Sadly, I think it was only a matter of time. If Mastodon gets more popular, more corporate drivel will follow too; if it doesn't, I think it'd become "undead" like Ello or die like App.net after a while.

I've always liked the BSides cons (including BerlinSides & PXE), there's usually more technical content, personal conversations and less noise. But as a slight introvert, I'm predisposed to "family gatherings" over huge events anyway.

. @redacted @Unprovable it is not inevitable as long as we shun that bs. A company here is hurting its image not helping it. If an #infosec company follows you, block that shit immediately and tell them to leave.

This is not a marketing tool.

@PrincessOfCats @redacted fully agree. If they want in, they can run a corp instance.
@redacted @PrincessOfCats Hmm... actually, this might be a bad thing RE the federated timelines. We may need a 'for profit' flag somewhere...
@Unprovable @redacted and we can auto unfederate all of them straight to hell!!
