How do I add columns / subgroups?
@Masha you can't
@NyoSan that is very sad
I liked to use very custom setup
using tweetdeck
@NyoSan @Masha @Masha that's actually incorrect, if you press the icon of three sliders on the right on any column, you can see the 'pin/unpin' option appear, and move columns to the left or right :>
@Masha PS for better use of browser real estate I use https://userstyles.org/styles/141457/mastodon-dynamic-wide-columns-narrow-drawer though it doesn't close the drawer, it makes it a much less significant presence for me
Mastodon: Dynamic wide columns, narrow drawer

@paralithode well... tweetdeck's logic just really different and I think UX there is a bit better :) maybe just habits

@Masha yeh, I've not used tweetdeck but the impression I get is that it's a lot more fluid/dynamic; on mastodon changing bits of UI is p.stiff–and in dynamic UI environments I end up accidentally fucking the screen up, so I'm not too bummed about it xD;

a UX that looks like–but behaves very differently from–what you're used to is bound to be a big shock, but I I think other aspects of the mastodon experience, eg content warnings for text & images, post privacy options, are the interesting bits.

@paralithode not sure... the most important thing is count of people still
@Masha maybe! I would say it's more, the number of ppl you can make meaningful connections with. 50 mill twitter accts..but who cares about the bots/PR accts/silent lurkers? If I just want a feed of interesting things–well, RSS gives me that w/much higher char & img allowances. My experience is that I'm connected w/5X more ppl on masto, partly thanks to the public timeline, & masto is more than 5X more valuable to me 'cause these folks helped me pay off an emergency plumbing bill in like 3 days.
