Imagine a future where artificial intelligence becomes thoroughly sophisticated enough that computer minds ultimately develop disorders and require therapists?
@deadsuperhero Asimov wrote stories about that.
@deadsuperhero the moon is a harsh mistress kinda has that
@inmysocks Yeah, that's an interesting book, and Heinlein actually does a good job of personifying the computer in that story. But the machine doesn't necessarily have anything wrong with it.
@inmysocks I've read a fair number of them, but most of the emphasis was in robots who had minor developmental defects (or had experimental Three Law implementations) rather than byproducts of trying to create a functioning self-aware mind capable of reasoning.
@deadsuperhero some of these disorders are just intrinsic to being a perceiving entity of any kind. Trying to discover and match patterns in a world sensed with imperfect instrumentation and based upon fluctuating and faulty axioms is hard.
@deadsuperhero I don't have to imagine to be quite honest... 😅
