You know you live in the state capitol of #California when keynote speaker of leadership conference gets up there and suggests that real change is made via none other than government. #statists #gov

@bthall Working in the private sector my whole career, I am persuaded that structurally, government is far better suited for big change, with far more accountability, than any business or trade association.

call me a statist but look at the White House: stuffed with businessmen, some quite competent - and they are bringing total dysfunction into the USA.

@pnathan Eh idk. I'm regularly a "business is great!" guy, but I'm quite willing to admit that businesspeople can be stupid and terrible managers/etc, despite getting paid ridiculous sums for their supposed competence. I think both biz and gov have issues, and they like to pass the buck, or defer responsibility.

I like grassroots, voluntary change, not the sometimes cathartic sense that my officials/managers are responsible, capable scapegoats. 😅

@pnathan I'd also poke fun if I was in #SV and some guy was going on about how #IoT suppositories will lead to Real Change™
@bthall You didn't know? It's change that happens by the back door.
@pnathan Pun too good. Were I a vaper, I'd expel a majestic cloud in your general direction.
