i wonder why slack is still a thing people pay for, if matrix is free and open source. is the ui/ux just that good?

@KitRedgrave Slack is terrible, but they spent a lot of time building integrations with a lot of entrenched enterprise products. They've built their success on other people's vendor lock-in. :(

@KitRedgrave I pay for Slack at work with two reasons: offloaded support effort (I am the IT dept and have no time to be) and clients that are familiar with it/can add one more team.

So I'm a good paying customer, even though I resent the "innovation" smell on web-based IRC and think the UI is a mess.
