other instances need to be able to compete with mastodon.social for growth, or https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/177 should be implemented.

@bcrypt And people should consider whether any alt accounts might be a better fit for more specialized instances. mastodon.social feels a little like a keybase.io for identity verification for people who came from the bird site.
