APT ate my homeworkHow on earth is this place not going to get sued into the ground by Twitter? It looks like a straight clone, all the verbs are obvious variations... I love what it is, but it seems like a massive risk.
mulander@http_error_418 there is no entity to sue. You can make a gmail clone and Google would have no legal ground to sue you - this is the same case. It's also federated, they would have to sue each instance (and there are already over 270).

@piersb yeah but there is on design, and the similarities are very distinct, we're not talking 'rounded corners' here.
@http_error_418 That would be (in the UK at least) a passing off issue. They'd need to convince the judge that a moron in a hurry (love that phrase) would be unable to distinguish between Tweetdeck and the web interface for Mastodon.
IANAL, but I don't see that one flying either - the web interface for Twitter is completely different to the Mastodon one.
@piersb fair enough, my familiarity with copyright law is a bit rusty, been a long time since that uni module.
