@BryanLunduke thanks for mentioning the "pathetic newbies" line. Just so you know, Cadence is a frontend for JACK that makes it brain-dead easy to install. it's already in a PPA for Ubuntu (or even debian), as well as in Arch's AUR. _really_ straightforward to install and configure.
