This looks very interesting.
500 characters sounds a lot though. It's gonna take some time before getting used to being able to write long ass paragraphs in one "Toot" :-).
@y_ Sometimes it's not enough, but it's most often enough to finish your thought in a comprehensible way :)

@maloki Yeah I bet it's way easier to have decent conversations around here than on Twitter :D I'm definitely looking forward to it !

Wow so much space left é_è

@y_ I keep thinking oh 500 is a looooot, and then run out of characters... :o

@maloki Are you thinking of writing a book or something :p ?

I don't get the instance thing though. Basically it sounds like a multi account thing, isn't it ? You have an account on each of one of the instances you're signed in ? Is there a way to centralize all of these timelines in one tab ? :O

@y_ Federated Time Line is from the other connected instances..
It's like Email, you can use gmail.com and still communicate with hotmail.com etc
@maloki I'm starting to understand. But is there a way to centralize everything in one tab ? I hope someone is working on a plugin to make that happen, I'd like to have all of my instances in one tab :)
@y_ you only need to have an account on one. So I'm not sure I understand your question :)
Or do you use a hotmail.com email to email other hotmail, and a gmail for other gmails? :D

@maloki Do I ? Because I could not log in to an other instance with my "main account", I had to create a separate one, with a new/same username, I then used the same mail adress as my main account and had to confirm the new account on the new instance and now have one tab for the mastodon.social local timeline and an other tab for my local icosahedron timeline (even though it's federated, stupid move, was just for trying out)

(Damn, 5 freaking hundred characters :O)

@y_ okay let's try again. You don't have to make new accounts. You can still talk with maloki@hotmail (using the email example) from y@social
without making a y@social
So you can add friends (via the search bar) even if they are on another instance. :)
In the Federated Timeline, you can see other instances too.
@y_ maybe wait the book question wasn't in relation to the Mastodon knowledge I posses? :P
