"Record-high temperatures reach eastern Europe
"Additional countries are facing record-breaking temperatures as the core of the heat shifts to eastern Europe, according to AccuWeather meteorologists.
"According to Anadolu English, a Turkish-based news organization, #Poland recorded an all-time high of 40.5 C (104.9 F) on Sunday, breaking a 105-year-old record. The Polish capital of Warsaw has also implemented public misting stations to mitigate the risk of dehydration and heatstroke.
"Temperatures in multiple countries also reached the triple digits last week, reported the U.K. Met Office, including #Spain, #Germany, the #CzechRepublic, the #Netherlands and #Switzerland.
"AccuWeather Meteorologist Jason Nicholls explained this heat wave is 'historic' because normal highs in #Paris and #Frankfurt are in the low 70s, meaning these cities have experienced 10 days with temperatures 18-30 degrees Fahrenheit above normal.
WHO warns extreme heat is becoming the new normal
"Leaders from the World Health Organization (WHO) have also noted the significance of the 'once-in-a-generation' heat wave that is now occurring nearly every year due to #ClimateChange and #Global Warming.
" 'Europe is the fastest-warming continent on Earth, heating at twice the global average,' WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus wrote on X Sunday. 'Right now, 150 million people are living under #ExtremeHeat, hundreds have died, schools are shut, grids are buckling.' "
