This heat is not only a climate emergency, it is class war. The rich burn the planet, then buy air conditioning, private pools and second homes while workers are left in overheated flats, unsafe jobs, failed public services and burning cities. Climate Action Now!
@IngridHbn it's not the rich burning the planet. It's the racist, including most Western conservatives
@jonesmurphy the rich have the highest emissions by far so there you go
@IngridHbn the percentage of wealth held by the rich has been massively increased by racist voters in the last couple of generations via tax cuts, deregulation, money corruption in politics, anti-union hate etc. That also means much greater political and anti-environmental power for the rich, coming from racism.
@IngridHbn if you find yourself talking about class and denying race, just stop. That is a very racist thing to do. The most important thing going on is massive, suicidal racism from the white supremacist working class. It ain't class causing most white women in the USA to keep voting for stupid white men to police their own vaginas. It is racist stupidity that causes these women to mostly vote exclusively for dumb, sexist white men.
@jonesmurphy @IngridHbn never thought about this, but you're right. In my country one can also find racist people enabling rich Nazis. Damn I do not know what to do with this info now but thank you very much.
@luckychronic @IngridHbn here in the US, most white women have never voted for a woman, and never will. There's a similar group of non-black people of color as well. They are indeed suicidal Nazis. Very stupid people. They are devastating the climate and many other things.
@jonesmurphy @IngridHbn do you think there is a solution? Because from the perspective of a non USa citizen, the mid terms are going to be a repeat of the last election
@luckychronic @IngridHbn no, I do not. Trump continues to fire black and female generals, replacing them with Nazi white men. He is readying for Civil War II. He will use violence if necessary to "win" the midterms. Most on the US left are clueless and unprepared.
@jonesmurphy @IngridHbn pretty sad. I hope people activate themselves as early as possible
@luckychronic @IngridHbn they won't. It was the same story with the previous Civil War. Most Americans were in denial. They were shocked when the Confederates seceded and attacked. It's very much the same right now with the US left. They overwhelmingly deny racism/Nazism and want to talk about class instead. I would expect that millions of Americans are going to die of their own stupidity and willful ignorance before this is over. I don't know that I will live to see the end of it.
@luckychronic @IngridHbn it's hard to believe, but most people on the US left are totally unprepared for the violence being pursued by the January 6th crowd. Just like on January 6th, the US left is overwhelmingly going to be shocked again when Trump uses ICE and the military to 'win' the midterms by any means necessary.
@luckychronic @IngridHbn the way Nazis behave in their lives outside of politics is the same. Suicidally stupid bigotry and hatred. They're dangerous a$$holes.

@IngridHbn @jonesmurphy that isn't even the problem. The rich keep people hooked on fossil fuels because it's not only wildly profitable, it's exciting and distracting. The personality of the oil industry is There Will Be Blood.

Solar/wind is boring infrastructure that just works. It's no fun. No great geopolitical drama, no blood. Just nerd shit and reliability. There are no titans of industry; just reliable and cheap power.

@quinn @IngridHbn this is nonsense. The vast majority of people in the world are not hooked on fossil fuels at all. Humanity is turning away from them as fast as possible. It is specifically racists who are the biggest global warming deniers and accelerationists, doing terrible damage to the vast majority of humans for generations to come. The oil industry is not victimizing anyone. Racists are volunteering for hurricanes, wildfires, floods, heat waves, tornadoes etc. They are doing this.
@jonesmurphy @IngridHbn I'm pretty sure you don't mean to really say the oil industry isn't victimizing anyone. We probably are mostly in agreement on all of this. Decarbonization is happening, but it is regularly sabotaged by the oil industry and petro states. The richest (real) industry isn't letting go without a fight.
@quinn @IngridHbn read what I wrote. People have the power to tax and regulate Big Oil. They're doing so all over the world. BUT we have a nasty group, led by Western conservatives, who use their votes to accelerate global warming upon themselves and others. This group is rolling back MLK'S voting rights legacy in the US and are quite close to entirely ending democracy and the rule of law here.
@jonesmurphy @IngridHbn we're just talking past each other. You're not interested in what I'm trying to say, so probably best to move on.
