I caught my son listening to Signals and Power Windows a week after the R40 show I caught in Toronto (he would have been 11 then). "Wait, you're listening to Rush? Like unironically?" "Yeah Im really digging them." "You coulda told me, I woulda bought you a ticket!!" and then I thought my chance for us to see them live together again was over. boo.
But now he's 20 and we have chance again, along with two of my buddies from college (we've seen every tour since RTB)! Am so excited for August! Its his first big stadium concert and it will _blow his mind_.
Umm. Well not really...
I had tickets to the postponed concert. But couldn't stand missing the first show here. So within hours of the notification bought tix for last night.
Which means I now also have tix for the postponed show as well.
Horrible financial decisions I will regret.
And sadly now watching prices for Sunday's show.
oh, as in they are now much lower than what you originally paid for them?
Well.. I mean realistically, I'm doubtful there's gonna be a Fifty-Fiveish or SixtySomething tour (this tour runs into next year and theyll need at least a year to recover - they getting OLD) so I don't think maximizing your chance to see something you love before its gone for good is really a bad thing.
When you're gone they're not gonna say at your funeral "There lies @sixtel - yes they had to postpone that vacation and work a month of extra shifts to pay for those tickets", they'll be saying "They were air drumming YYZ right before they passed and they had to surgically remove the walkman from their hands."
Plus, you know, more memories with ur kid.
Looking at a pair on Sunday. $175 per ticket + tax all in. And equivalent to my $380 tickets last night. My excuse for not buying is kid is sleeping in and not about to wake him to confirm. They'll be sold before he's awake.
Also. Awesome you're now going with him. It'll be great.
Never thought I'd get a chance to see them live. 42 years a fan and now my first show.
Made same kid go see Billy Strings with me 6 months ago. But this was his first real rock concert. And he told the rest of the family he liked the outing.
