Knut 🏳️🌈 🇳🇴🧸@joshsutphin I've told @mcnado about this, and he pees with himself with laughter every time I tell it. My first psych hospitalization, which was my onset of PTSD, which is VERY brutal. It came to $20k..and the insurance paid...1 cant. So my doc, great psych calls and fights it and they are like "It's not necessary has he tried other options to not have PTSD?" He's like, "Like what? Are you a doctor" Yes, I am a physician "From where? Alabama?" the hospital and my employer had to to sue.

@Gurre @mcnado @joshsutphin I'm immigrating to Norway. And it's not a perfect system, but it's a better system. There aren't as many beds in psych hospitals, but they are far better hospitals. Kronstad in Bergen is where the major PTSD unit is. Not locked down, wireless internet. Hospitals here are like jails. They're terrible. And it's a stabilization unit to move you into outpatient services, so you're there 3 or 4 days. I was in for a week. They did nothing.
@Gurre @mcnado @joshsutphin The other thing here in the US, and McNado can you this is absolutely how it is. If you go in voluntarily, which mine have been, you can leave whenever you choose. In practice, that doesn't happen. The hospitals will try and keep you there for as long as can so they bill the insurance. Not for extra services, or other things....to bill...the...insurance. That's it.
