Centrist Democrats Rebuke Party’s Left Wing: ‘We Are Capitalist, Not Socialist’ https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/26/us/politics/moderate-democrats-capitalist-socialism.html?smid=tw-share
How about this doozie? The grey lady is hopelessly broken.
It's always telling when they are willing to attack progressives in their own party harder than they are willing to attack the fascists.
On the other hand, this is what, a dozen Wall Street Democrats who already vote with the Republicans on the regular? Fuck them.
It's rather remarkable, isn't it, how once some politicians who are actually left-wing begin making substantial inroads, all of a sudden the 'moderate, centrist' Dems no longer look all that moderate, centrist... or Democratic, ne?
This is why I switched my party affiliation from Dem to unaffiliated. One good thing all this turmoil has wrought is the solidification of my own idea of exactly what I want out of government. I’ve learned a lot from Tim Snyder’s On Freedom and from Heather Cox Richardson’s lessons on US history, and I realize now that I think the purpose of government should be to help the governed realize their potential. I want taxes to be our investment in each other. I want everyone to be well fed and to receive good healthcare. I want everyone to have as much education as they have the drive to pursue. I want the US to embrace Snyder’s expansive “freedom to” rather than the limiting “freedom from.” I want to go back to the US being a beacon of hope for people in other countries. More and more, I’m seeing that my priorities align with those of Bernie Sanders and Zohran Mamdani, and I’m encouraged by some European countries, particularly Nordics, that strive to bring to fruition many of the things I believe in. Let’s take our government back in November. ✊🏻
The presumption here is that the Democratic politicians, the party leader leadership dictate what the party should be and not the voters.
So it’s very true of themselves that they are capitalist, which is to say they are authoritarian assholes who presume a natural right dictating to voters.
